INSTALLING SUBLIME TEXT 3 ON UBUNTU OR OTHER LINUX DISTROS

What is Sublime Text

             Sublime Text is a proprietary cross-platform source code editor with a Python application programming interface (API). It natively supports many programming languages and markup languages, and functions can be added by users with plugins, typically community-built and maintained under free-software licenses. The latest version is Sublime text 3.

How to install Sublime Text 3 on Ubuntu

      Sublime Text is available on every platform for Windows, Linux, and Mac. I will show how you can install on Linux, it works on most popular Linux distros (Ubuntu, Kali, Mint etc).

Step 1. Open your browser and search Sublime Text 3 download or copy paste this link
https://www.sublimetext.com/3

Step 2. Choose Linux repos

Based on your Linux architecture choose 64 bit or 32 bit

Step 3. Open your terminal and write or paste the command below it will download the program

wget -qO - https://download.sublimetext.com/sublimehq-pub.gpg | sudo apt-key add -  
Step 4. Select the channel to use, if you want free version you need select Stable version, if you want Developer version choose Dev version. Put on your terminal one of version

Stable Version:

echo "deb https://download.sublimetext.com/ apt/stable/" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sublime-text.list  

Dev Version:

echo "deb https://download.sublimetext.com/ apt/dev/" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sublime-text.list

Step 5. Update apt sources and install Sublime Text

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sublime-text


Install Package Controller

Step 1. Go to link to download source code of the package controller
 With Package Controller, you can install lots of useful packages to make your job easy

Step 2. Open your console and put code that you got from above link to your console
Step 3. To use package controller there is shortcut key   ctrl + shift + p 
That is it you got your Sublime Text 3 on your Linux. And by using package controller you can install themes, and beneficial packages.
